Either i install the block off plates (according to gearbox z it takes 30 minutes and ill leave my egr coolers on) or i do a custom tune from powerstroke enginunety that works with the sct tuner which will delete ONLY the DPG and will LEAVE THE EGR as it should be.ġ. gearbox z does not show that on its web page. Sucks i didnt understand this BEFORE i spent $1,500 on doing both bulletproof egr coolers. I gearbox z and was told by tech support that I need to buy and install the egr block off plates as eventually the back pressure will build up and push the egr valve open, causing the truck to go into limp mode. I didn't understand that it disabled both the dpf AND the egr. I bought the gearbox z dpf-r "tuner" and installed it. New engine turbo and all the bulletproof parts. Ok so im starting a new thread for this so that it can stay focused on this topic. Ive read that gearhead is the best for having no smoke.ĭpf delete while keeping bulletproof egr coolers Because of how heavy it is should i stick with the stock tune or do the mild, lowest setting (economy)? gearhead has a tow tune that i think is 40 hp. To me i treat it like its always towing due to the extra weight. ![]() If i add an edge cts2 and use gearhead tunes will i eliminate the smoke? (should i use a different tuner for gearhead?)ģ. ![]() does the dpf-r, either stock or in plus (economy) mode create a lot of black smoke because its a cheap tune?Ģ. only way to prevent it is to barely step on the peddle. I havent seen it on the plus (economy) tune (70 more hp) but stock i see a lot of black smoke. My mechanic ran it on the economy tune and put it back to stock because there was so much black smoke on the economy tune. I got the dpf-r plus and am seeing quite a bit of black smoke. So i just got my 6.4 back after extensive bulletproofing, new turbo, new engine and a bunch of other upgrades.
